Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the city.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his debts and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the team reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to head to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Strategists tables.
